Ian has served in the Disaster and Risk Management professional for over twenty eight years. Prior to joining the Comprehensive Disaster Management Programme (CDMP) team, Ian served in Australia as the Director, Queensland State Emergency Service, a position he held for four years. Ian has an extensive risk reduction background and was the guiding architect of the Bangladesh CDMP. In 2004 he served as Team Leader for the CDMP design mission in Indonesia and in 2000 led a team of professionals for the design of a Regional Disaster Management Project for the South Pacific. Ian has an extensive response management record having managed over thirty operations related to cyclones, floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and tsunami events. He is also a serving UNDAC member.
