Sub-Programme 4: Research Information Management Component 4(B):

Establishing An Integrated Approach To Climate Change Risk Management At National And Local Levels

The Development Objective of the CDMP Component 4b is to establish a mechanism that facilitates management of long term climate risks and uncertainties as an integral part of national development planning and increases the effectiveness of responses during both ‘normal’ time and emergencies. This development objective will contribute to the primary objective of CDMP, which is to strengthen the capacity of the Bangladesh disaster management system to reduce unacceptable risks and improve response and recovery activities. These objectives contribute to the overall goal of Millennium Development Goal achievement through more effective and sustained poverty reduction by reducing disaster and climate risks within the overall development process.

The climate component focuses on three critical areas: Building the capacity of MoEF/DoE to coordinate and mainstream climate change issues in development activities; strengthening existing knowledge and information accessibility on impact prediction and adaptation to climate change; and awareness-raising, advocacy and coordination to promote climate change adaptation and risk reduction in development activities.
